This paper, by viewing and analyzing the image of Esther who goes from self-adoration, self-denial, self-maltreatment to self-assurance, aims to study the feminist life experiences in the male-dominating society, and further explores the feminist struggle and resistance when women are faced with mental breakdown——the subversion of traditional virginity and the deconstruction of maternal myth, in an attempt to search Sylvia Plath's rather complicated, different and delicate feminist disposition. |
