| Australian critic A.A. Phillips was best known for coining the term "Cultural Cringe", one of the early keywords for post colonial theory in Australia. Phillips was a steadfast literary nationalist, who insisted on the development of Australian national culture independent from its home country, and who believed that Australian literature had its outstanding subjects and tradition, and that there was no ground for ingrained feelings of inferiority. Phillips' nationalist literary views are highly practical and give strategic references to establish or stick to national ethnic and cultural traditions in the context of globalization. |
