| Philip Roth's nonfictions series include The Facts: A Novelist's Autobiography, Deception：A Novel, Patrimony: A True Story and Operation Shylock：A Confession. These four works are regarded as the turning point in his writing. Before these books, he was annoyed deeply by the criticisms from the reader's request that his works are the vivid reflection of his life and thought. Influenced by the wave of nonfictions characterized with fictional and realistic factors, Roth turns the outside criticism against them and takes great advantage of this literature style. Nonfiction is characterized by fidelity to the reality. But readers lost in the maze could not make sure what they learn from them are the truth of Roth. Roth achieves this goal by two writing strategies. They are the contradictions between autobiography and reality, identities of the narrator and the author, which also marks Roth's maturity in writing strategies. |
