| Zhang Chengzhi’s novels and prose texts provide a unique approach to imagining Northern China. In Zhang Chengzhi’s creative world, the Inner Mongolia prairie, the Loess Plateau and the north and south areas of Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang are the “three continents” he passionately wrote about. He freely portrays the image of the Mongolian mother, the heroic image of the Loess Plateau, and the free images of the Xinjiang people. Through these rich and vivid images, we can construct Zhang Chengzhi’s northern Chinese aesthetic spirit, which will provide a useful reference for the construction of modern Chinese aesthetics. |
