Both sisters have suffered physical and emotional trauma in their processes of growing up. The trauma experienced by the author during her artistic endeavors, and the trauma suffered by female characters in the novel have shown the difficulties encountered as well as the efforts made by American women in their pursuits of selves under the patriarchal society in the mid 19th century, and the light it sheds on later American women in their similar quests of self discoveries. 查看全文  查看/发表评论  下载PDF阅读器 关闭
